Picture Book Linky

I am linking up with First Grade and Fabulous for a great linky party!  It is all about picture books to use the first week of school.  (Which is creeping closer and closer...yikes!)  Here are a few of my favorite picture books to start out the school year.  Each book has link to purchase it from Amazon if you are interested!

I used this book for the first time last year.  (Thanks to blog stalking!)  My class LOVED it.  We will be doing it again with all of the great ideas that were shared in the bloggy world.

I take time {almost} every day to read a chapter book.  It is usually a Junie B!  This is the first one we read.   

This is a fabulous book about working together.  It is short and simple but SO cute!  

I also read a picture book I wrote in college.  I don't have a picture...it is at school....and it is summer.....you understand!  It is called Billy the Busy Bumblebee.  The kiddos LOVE that I wrote it.  I still have my grade and professor's comments in the back.  The kids really get a kick out of ME being GRADED!  THEY think the story is great.  I like to use my book as an introduction to the students learning that they will become real author's this year.  

And to go with our jungle animal theme!

Goodbye Google....Hello Bloglovin'

Google Reader is GONE.  (Well, it will be soon!)  Bloglovin is super easy to use and you can import all of the blogs you follow in just a few minutes.  Make the switch before the end of the month so you don't miss out on any of your blog stalking!

New Games....Flash Freebie!

It is 4:15 a.m.  I have been up since 2:30.  I cannot sleep because I had not one, but TWO unwelcome visitors in my herb garden yesterday and I cannot get the picture of them out of my mind....the visitors were SNAKES!
Let me just say, I HATE snakes.  I mean HATE, HATE, HATE.  (Yes, I am aware that I will not let my firsties use that word, but it is the most appropriate one I can think of at 4:00 a.m.)  I REFUSE to walk in grass and let's just say I have been known to abandon my class in the hallway if I see one or hear there is one on campus.  And might of refused to leave the lounge to go pick them up from lunch on one occasion.  (Don't worry, my principal and colleagues are aware of this and take care of my class!)
My current yard guests are black snakes, and apparently "the good kind".  That does not make me feel any better.

I can thank the snakes for me being productive.  I will also be able to blame them when I am struggling to stay awake at my common core workshop today.
I posted 2 new phonics games.  I got the original idea from Sally over at Elementary Matters.  She has these cute Bingo type phonics games that are sports themed.  My kids LOVED them, so I decided to create some similar with different themes.  (I contacted her, she said it was okay!)
