Test Test Hooray!

True Story!

Hey Guys, Meredith here!

And I am NOT kidding!

After a Professional Development on ways to increase student engagement I tried out Go Formative. It is a paperless way to assess students and get immediate feedback.
Did you hear me?

IMMEDIATE feedback!

Without grading papers!
Go Formative works on any device that is connected to the internet. You can create quizzes, tests or even homework. There are also assignments that you can use.
Best of all......it is FREE for teachers!

My students are actually cheering if I tell them we are going to take a Go Formative Test!

Five For Friday

Hey everyone! We are linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five For Friday this week!

Kindergarteners and First Graders were busy planting seeds this week. We can't wait to see what sprouts!

We welcomed some new classmates this week. Monarch caterpillars have arrived in Kindergarten and First Grade! The students are so excited to check for any changes when they arrive to school each morning!

First Graders are in the middle of an Economics Unit in Social Studies. My senior intern had them complete a project this week. The students researched the job they wanted when they grow up. They had to write  a paragraph telling if they would provide a good or a service and who would purchase their good or service. They presented their findings to the class. This little group even brought in props! (They wanted to be teachers by the way!)

Kindergarteners have been working hard on composing and decomposing numbers 11-19. They used the iPads to "show what they know". They LOVE using the iPads during math!

During FSA testing for the big kids our playgrounds were either closed or crowded! We did lots of Go Noodles!  Cheerleader and Clap, Stomp, Jump were favorites. If your class does not Go Noodle, you should sign up. It is free and fabulous!

Hello all!

Hello all!

As promised, I am here to introduce myself to you all.

My name is Christy. I am very excited to meet and follow all of you! I am joining Meredith to contribute to Sunshine, Sand and Scissors. I can’t wait to start developing things!

All that you have been told is true. I’m a planner, I always have to make a list, and I might just be a slight bit OCD. My kiddos even aide my obsession!

A little more about me. I have taught for six years. Three were with another teacher. Then, I moved to another school and I have taught three with my own class. I have taught second grade, first grade, and kindergarten. Those of you doing the math out there, yes. I have taught three different grade levels in three years. Let’s just say I have become quite the expert at packing!

As Meredith said, we made a schedule.

We have been sticking to it.

We have even made some things. Stay tuned to see what we have created!

I am rather new (well not really new) but have just started adding to my Instagram and Twitter. Head on over to Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to follow us!

Teacher, I need help!

I am going to blog twice a week.

I am going to create a new product every week.

I am going to leave comments on other teacher's posts.

I am going to build my business.

** I had good intentions. I PROMISE! **

Yup, I have been saying those things for a year {or two} now.

I meant it. I REALLY REALLY meant it.
but....
you know.....

Life Happens!

So, I decided to do what my students do.
Teacher, I need help!

Not just any help. I told one of my teaching and real life besties I needed help!

Yea!
Hip Hip Hooray!
Deep Breath....Aahhh!

My thought was two heads are better than one. And two people are more productive than one. And we will hold each other accountable.

Guess what?!?!!?!
It has already worked! We have:

  • Made a schedule
  • Brainstormed blogging ideas
  • Brainstormed product ideas
  • Worked out the logistics (FYI she is a planner, list maker, and a little OCD like me!)
{Can you tell I am taking Kelli Alaina's Get It Done with Grace course AND stalking Sheila from Sheila Jane Teaching?} If you are not familiar with them, check them both out by clicking below!

Christy will be here Monday to introduce herself. She is very excited to meet you all!

Until then follow us on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter!

April Currently

It is time for Farley's currently!!!!

Listening
I love being able to watch The Today Show while I am catching up on Social Media on the weekends!  FYI the Today Show ended so I have Fixer Upper on. I do not care that I have already watched this episode a time or two or eight.

Loving
BIG Blogging News. I have a big announcement. I cannot wait to share it with you. Stay tuned!

Thinking
I LOVE teaching. You are thinking OBVIOUSLY.....but let me explain! I currently have a senior intern. She is doing a {fabulous} job. We are doing a lot of co-teaching during small group time but she has been doing all of the whole group instruction the last couple of weeks.
**I am not going to lie...I am getting A LOT done sitting quietly at my Teacher Table during whole group time!**
She had to leave early the other day. I got to teach all afternoon. I had SO MUCH FUN! SO MUCH FUN!

Wanting
Jen and Kayla to make the Happy Go Teach Announcement. Have you guys heard about what they are doing? I am seriously beginning to feel like a stalker! Check them out on IG, Twitter or FB if you have not heard about their awesomeness. Just search Happy Go Teach or Jen Jones or Kayla Delzer.

Needing
It is raining. I need it to stop. I was supposed to fix/update the gutters today. I am getting ready to put my house up for sale. Gutters were on today's list. I had helpers all lined up and everything!

Whatever
Happy Go Teach.....Yup, I have seriously reached stalker status!

Go check out Farley's blog to see what everyone else is up to!
