TPT Seller Challenge #2

Challenge #2.......
I am sure I am preachin' to the choir here, but those are my TPT dreams. While I do love creating, sharing and helping other teachers, my dreams are ultimately financial dreams! My goal for the summer was to expand my TPT store, blog, etc. This challenge was perfect timing. {Maybe even a sign!}

Not Pinch Every Penny-
This one explains itself. I am a teacher, a single teacher. Even though I am a very practical, frugal person, it would be nice to see something I want and simply get it without thinking about my budget or feeling guilty. Classroom things, clothes, purses, home stuff, the expensive wine...you get the picture!
For The Record I am not one to complain about a teacher's low pay. I choose to be a teacher and could be making twice my salary in a different career (goal #2 will explain).  Since I choose to be a teacher because that is what I am passionate about, I don't complain about my pay. (Just sayin' a little breathing room would be nice!)

Pay Off Student Loans-
This is my ultimate goal. Right now there is no end in sight. I went to college twice. Yup, twice! My first degree is Business Administration with an emphasis in Management and a minor in Health Care. I would LOVE to get my masters in education but I know that is not a choice until I pay off my first 2 loans.

Put in a Pool-
I live in Florida a few blocks away from the beach. My school is a block away from the beach. I am lucky, I KNOW. But....the beach is messy and a lot of work to just relax and soak up the sun for a couple of hours! Unless you are on vacation, of course!

By the way, not long after updating my Fun with Frogs unit, I sold one! Yea!

  1. I am totally with you on the not pinching pennies! I am married, but married to another teacher. We're not exactly shaking the money tree, either. One of mine is to build my wardrobe without guilt. When we will be ever shop without feeling guilty about it?!?
I also love your pool dream! Another one of mine, too! I would feel the same way about the beach. I love it, but holy smokes, what a trip and a mess!
    Great post!

  2. I am a single teacher, too! I feel your pain. I can so relate to your post- I wanted a pool, so I bought one today! LOL... Here's my post about it: http://nalabellasixthgrade.blogspot.com/2015/06/how-do-you-cool-off-on-hot-summer-day.html

I dream of not worrying about pennies.... Someday... :)

    1. I bought a very similar pool about a month ago but didn't tell ANYONE. I am so glad another adult did the same thing! Lol!

  3. Hi Meredith! I totally understand where you're coming from with your financial goals. I have been a single teacher for many years and it is nice to get to splurge a little sometimes. And, I also have two degrees and understand your desires there as well. I wish you all the best! I'm sure you will reach your goals and then some!

  4. Just a thought - you should have a link to your TPT store at the top of your blog.

    1. Thanks for the suggestion. (And I agree! ;-).) Right now there is one on the side, but I am in the process of getting a blog makeover and having buttons at the top was one of my requests! Hopefully my new design will be revealed next week!

  5. EEEEKKKK! I'm not a beach person either. I'm a little OCD about cleanliness, so the beach isn't at the top of my list for vacation spots lol. As for the shopping, I don't usually shop unless it's thrifted or on clearance. Buyer's guilt gets me every time. Maybe one day we'll be able to buy what we want when we want it! Hard work = positive outcomes! :)

  6. When I was coming up with my "dreams", I was going to write about paying off student loans, but sometimes it feels like it is a dream that will never come true! At least if you did go get your masters your loans could be deferred! Good luck!!

  7. Awesome goals! It would be so nice to go shopping without feeling guilty all the time... I can't wait for that day! I'm with you, though - I don't complain about the salary or the long hours, because I chose to become a teacher and there is nothing I love more. But it WOULD be nice to not have to be constantly obsessing over my budget ;)

  8. OOH!!! A pool would be nice!! I'm in AZ, so while not close to the beach, I TOTALLY am a pool girl and not a beach girl. The beach is great for walking on and taking pictures at sunset. ;)

I also, totally hear the not pinching every penny. I am so over that fact of teacher life. Hope you reach your dreams!
